Advocacy Services

Advocacy Services include a free one hour initial consultation in addition to hours of services in the purchased package.  

Level One Package-nonrefundable fee of $300.00-A Level One Advocacy Services Package includes 3 hours of advocacy services in addition to the free one hour initial consultation to be used consulting with the Parent, school personnel, or other service providers in preparation for an upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting. Parent Advocate does not attend ARD or Section 504 meeting. Package Includes:

  • Initial one hour telephone, in person, or Skype consultation where the Parent and Parent Advocate will discuss concerns or issues for the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting.
  • Review of child’s educational records including Parent Questionnaire by Parent advocate after initial consultation.
  • Second one hour telephone, in person, or Skype meeting where the Parent Advocate will supply the Parent with a prepared list of recommendations, suggestions, and courses of action for the Parent to take to the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting. Parent will also have the opportunity to discuss any additional concerns or issues.
  • Telephone, text, and e-mail consultations with the Parent, school personnel, or other service providers. Any time spent will be deducted from the 3 hours included in the package. 
  • Anything over the 3 hours will be billed at a rate of $100.00 per hour billed in 15 minute increments. Parent will receive detailed documentation of use of hours. 

Level Two Package-nonrefundable fee of $350.00-A Level Two Advocacy Services Package includes 4 hours of advocacy services in addition to the free one hour initial consultation to be used consulting with the Parent, school personnel, or other service providers in preparation for an upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting. Parent Advocate does attend ARD or Section 504 meeting. Package Includes:

  • Initial one hour telephone, in person, or Skype consultation where the Parent and Parent Advocate will discuss concerns or issues for the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting.
  • Review of child’s educational records by Parent advocate after initial consultation.
  • Second one hour telephone, in person, or Skype meeting where the Parent Advocate will supply the Parent with a prepared list of recommendations, suggestions, and courses of action for the Parent to take to the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting. Parent will also have the opportunity to discuss any additional concerns or issues.
  • Telephone, text, and e-mail consultations with the Parent, school personnel, or other service providers. Any time spent will be deducted from the 4 hours included in the package. 
  • Parent Advocate does attend ARD or Section 504 meeting.
  • Anything over the 4 hours will be billed at a rate of $100.00 per hour billed in 15 minute increments. Parent will receive detailed documentation of use of hours. 

Consulting Services

Consulting Services include a free one hour initial consultation in addition to hours of services in the purchased package.  

ARD/Section 504 Tune Up Meeting Package-nonrefundable fee of $250.00An ARD/Section 504 Tune Up Package includes 2 hours of consulting services in addition to the free one hour initial consultation to be used consulting with the Parent to help the Parent prepare for an upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting. Package includes:

  • Initial one hour telephone, in person, or Skype consultation where the Parent and Parent Advocate will discuss concerns or issues for the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting.
  • Review of child’s educational records including Parent Questionnaire by Parent advocate after initial consultation.
  • Follow-up Tune Up Meeting (one hour) after educational records have been reviewed where the Parent Advocate will supply the Parent with a prepared list of recommendations, suggestions, and courses of action for the Parent to take to the upcoming ARD or Section 504 meeting so Parent can self-advocate for child.
  • Includes a 15 minute phone consultation before and after the ARD or Section 504 meeting. 
  • Anything over the 2 hours will be billed at a rate of $100.00 per hour billed in 15 minute increments. Parent will receive detailed documentation of use of hours.

Parent Questionnaire & Consent Form

A signed Advocacy Services Agreement with payment must be on file before services begin. Payment of fees can be done with cash, check, credit card, and PayPal. 

Reduced fees available for qualified persons.  In order to receive reduced fees proof of need must be provided through verification of income.

Personalized Learning Solutions currently advocates for parents in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Travel to other parts of the state or other states is on a case by case basis with associated fees.  Personalized Learning Solutions is available to attend meetings via telephone and video (Skype) conferencing outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

 

School/Classroom Observations

For Clients Who Only Need an Observation & for Clients of Other Special Education Advocates & Educational Professionals

Sometimes parents are not sure how it is going in school or in a particular class.  We will observe your child in a school/academic setting and prepare a comprehensive report which will give parents vital information about certain aspects of their children’s educationThree hour classroom observation in a school/academic setting plus preparation of comprehensive report-nonrefundable fee of $300.00. Anything needed over the 3 hours will be billed at a rate of $75.00 per hour billed in 15 minute increments.

School & Classroom Observation Services Agreement

 

Parent Training Services & Workshops 

Parent training workshops offered to parents, local support groups, nonprofit organizations, churches, and other organizations. Workshops can be tailored to fit the need of the group requesting the presentation. Prices for workshops are negotiable depending on size of groups, materials needed, etc.

  • Getting to Know My Child-Learn strategies and tips on how to prepare a “Getting to Know My Child” packet for teachers and service providers. These packets are very useful to teachers and service providers at the beginning of the school year.
  • Organizing Your Child’s Educational File-Learn how to organize your child’s educational file so that documents can be found quickly during a phone call, conference, or meeting.  You will also learn how to create a Quick Reference Sheet for the front of your child’s file to reference when need to access information quickly. It is suggested participants bring a 3 ring binder, dividers, and child’s paperwork to start the organizational process. 
  • Special Education: The Basics-Learn Special Education basics including a brief overview of the laws & Special Education process, student & parent rights, school district responsibilities, basic terms, and acronyms.
  • ARD Committee/504 Committee Decision Making Process-Learn an overview of the Special Education & Section 504 processes from the initial evaluation request to the initial meeting.
  • Conquering the ARD or 504 Meeting-Learn tips on how to prepare for, attend, and follow up after an ARD or 504 meeting. Also learn how to prepare a Parent Agenda to keep you focused so you can successfully advocate for your child during the meeting.
  • Instructional Accommodations & Curricular ModificationsLearn the difference between accommodations and modifications and how each term is applied in the educational setting.
  • New Models of Support in the ClassroomLearn the new models of support in the classroom including in-class support, external support, and specialized support.
  • How to File a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Complaint-Learn how to correctly file a TEA complaint in response to procedural violations.
