On June 5, 2018 TEA provided a letter to all administrators explaining new provisions of services for students with dyslexia and related disorders. TEA is finally recognizing that dyslexia is a specific learning disability as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
This letter will:
- Identify possible supports and interventions for a student identified with, or suspected of having, dyslexia; and
- Reiterate and clarify that the LEA’s Child Find mandate under the IDEA applies to students with, or suspected of having, dyslexia.
