The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has released its annual report for the fiscal year ending in September. Overall, there were 16, 720 complaints submitted to the office which is a dramatic increase from the 10, 392 submitted the previous year. According to the report, 36 percent of the complaints received were disability related. The Office of Civil Rights received nearly 6,000 disability related complaints during fiscal year 2016 which is up from the 4,800 complaints received the previous year. The office did have success in resolving 5,232 of the 6,000 disability related complaints.
